端午節吃粽子是為了紀念古代詩人屈原的。屈原一生寫了許許多多的著名詩篇，提出過許許多多愛國政治主張，但是楚王不採納。最後，楚國國土被侵佔，屈原滿懷憂憤，跳江自盡。人們為了紀念他，祭奠他，在每年的這一天，就把粽子和許多的好吃的投到江裡，目的是不讓魚兒吃屈原的屍體。
端午節那天，我問媽媽粽子是怎麼做的，媽媽說：“粽子是用翠綠、鮮嫩的'蘆葦葉包著雪白的糯米和蜜棗包的，如果沒有蜜棗的話，可以用豆子等代替。熟它，需要煮一個晚上。煮熟以後，剝開變成墨綠色的蘆葦葉，就可以看見潔白的糯米和棗團在裡面，既好吃又甜，並且吃不膩。它既是開胃的美食，又是營養豐富的滋補品。

屈原是戰國時楚國的大官，楚國不採納他的治國主張，反而將他免職流放，他在流放途中看到楚國衰亡，人民遭受苦難，自己又無力挽救老百姓，他心中悲憤難忍，便於公元前278年的五月初五，投入汩羅江自盡。楚國百姓知道後，竟相划船前去相救，但已來不及了，百姓們擔心江中的魚，鱉，咬食屈原的遺體，便用竹殼裹米投入江中餵魚。從此，划龍舟，包粽子就是我們中國的風俗了。
我很喜歡端午節，我每年都盼望端午節的到來。
