自我介紹的時間一般為3分鐘，在時間的分配上，第一分鐘可談談學歷等個人基本情況，第二分鐘可談談工作經歷，對於應屆畢業生而言可談相關的社會實踐，第三分鐘可談對本職位的理想和對於本行業的看法。如果自我介紹要求在1分鐘內完成，自我介紹就要有所側重，突出一點，不及其餘。
在實踐中，有些應聘者不瞭解面試自我介紹的重要性，只是簡短地介紹一下自己的姓名、身份，其後補充一些有關自己的學歷、工作經歷等情況，大約半分鐘左右就結束了自我介紹，然後望著考官，等待下面的提問，這是相當不妥的，白白浪費了一次向面試官推薦自己的寶貴機會。而另一些應聘者則試圖將自己的全部經歷都壓縮在這幾分鐘內，這也是不明智的做法。合理地安排自我介紹的時間，突出重點是首先要考慮的問題。
切勿採用“背誦”口吻
人力資源專家指出，自我介紹可以事前準備，也可以事前找些朋友做練習，但自我介紹應避免書面語言的嚴整與拘束，而應使用靈活的口頭語進行組織。切忌以背誦朗讀的口吻介紹自己，如果那樣的話，對面試官來說，將是無法忍受的。自我介紹還要注意聲線，儘量讓聲調聽來流暢自然，充滿自信。
只說與職位相關的優點
自我介紹時要投其所好擺成績，這些成績必須與現在應聘公司的業務性質有關。在面試中，你不僅要告訴考官你是多麼優秀的人，更要告訴考官，你如何地適合這個工作崗位。那些與面試無關的內容，即使是你引以為榮的優點和長處，你也要忍痛捨棄。
在介紹成績時，說的'次序也極為重要，應該把你最想讓面試官知道的事情放在前面，這樣的事情往往是你的得意之作，也可以讓面試官留下深刻的印象。
以說真話為前提
面試自我介紹時，要突出個人的優點和特長，你可以使用一些小技巧，比如可以介紹自己做過什麼專案來驗證具有某種能力，也可以適當引用別人的言論，如老師、朋友等的評論來支援自己的描述。但無論使用哪種小技巧，都要堅持以事實說話，少用虛詞、感嘆詞之類。自吹自擂一般是很難逃過面試官的眼睛的。至於談弱點時則要表現得坦然、樂觀、自信。

I am 25 years old and I am local. (I live locally sounds better) I am seeking an opportunity to work with XXX as Sales. (..IN sales or As a Sales representative/whatever).My professional experience and my awareness of your unparalleled reputation have led me to want to work for your company.
I have a bachelor degree with a major in Mechanical and Electrical field.(pause) Graduated from the XXX university in 2002. Over the past three years, I have worked with XXX Co.,Ltd as Sales (again, in sales or as a sales man/person/rep?) who responsible (with responsibility mainly) for the market of Hunan. During this period, I have learnt much. I learned the values of teamwork and commitment, how to win, how to work hard, how to concentrate and focus on goals, and how to balance my time and priorities. Additional experience in other fields such as graduation practice in factory and commercial negotiation also reinforces my value to your company.

Because being offhand in advance, let’s leave it at that. (This sentence makes no sense. ’Being offhand’ means to be rude, inconsiderate, ill-mannered so I don’t think that is whay you mean! In advance of what? ’Let’s leave it at that’ is a command, it sounds rather abrupt and ill-mannered to me, again I don’t think this is what you meant. How about ’I would love to join your company and you would not regret giving me this opportunity.’ and just finish with a smile!)
