April 28th Saturday Fine
It was Saturday， just before May Day. My classmates and I went to the park nearby， we didnt go there for amusement but took part in voluntary labor.
We got there at 9：00. We were divided into three groups and then began working. The students in Group One planted trees and watered flowers. The task for Group Two was collecting the litter left about by tourists and cleaning the benches. The group I was in got to the Childrens Playground and wiped all the equipment clean. We worked very hard. At 11：00， when all the work was finished up， all my classmates met again. Although everyone was in a sweat， yet we felt happy because we had done good job.

My grandfather is an eighty-year-old man. He always complains about how fast things have changed, and he often says that life used to be better.
Families arent families the way they used to be. A lot of families have broken down. If husband and wife have problems with their marriage, they no longer stay together. And mothers used to stay at home and take care of their children, but now not anymore. Everyones working. No one has time to look after children at home.
And the cars! No one walks anymore. Everyone drives. We used to walk five miles to school every day, even in winter. But now we dont. And in school, the children dont have to think anymore. In math class, for example, we used to add, subtract(減), multiply(乘) and divide(除) in our heads. Kids dont use their heads anymore. Instead, they use calculators(計算器).
Most families have computers now. In the past, we didnt have computers. We didnt even have lights. My mother used to spend all day cooking in the kitchen. But now nobody eats home-cooked food any more.
And people dont talk to each other anymore. They are too busy to talk, too busy to eat, too busy to think...
Life used to be simple, but it isnt anymore.

i remembered his first lesson. he put three bottles on the desk. one was filled with kerosene, one with castor oil, and one with vinegar. and he said now watch carefully. pay attention to everything that i do. he held up one of his fingers and dipped it into the cup after he mixed the three kinds of liquid in a big cup together. a few seconds later, he took his finger out, put it in his mouth and sucked it. how delicious! you must do everything that i do. said he. and then we did it like him. lmmediately we made a face. the mixture tasted horrible.
it was first chemistry lesson. i never forget it.
